Today's action

If you run a fogger, check tonight that it triggers only after lights-out and that the outlet sits low in the cage. Adjust if needed.

The great fogger debate, settled honestly.

Foggers are accused of causing respiratory infections. The accusation is partly true and entirely about installation, not about foggers themselves.

The great fogger debate, settled honestly.

A fogger that runs cold mist over a warm basking branch creates a localized microclimate that is high humidity and uncomfortably cool. Sustained exposure to that microclimate is a documented respiratory infection risk. The fogger itself is not the problem.

The fix is simple. Foggers run only after lights-out, when basking branches are cool and the cage is in its night-time low-temperature window. Run for two to three hours, never longer. Use ultrasonic foggers, never heated. Position the outlet at the bottom of the cage, never directly into the canopy.

Run that way, foggers are the most effective single tool for raising overnight humidity in dry rooms. Run wrong, they hurt the animal. Both can be true.
